Papplewick Old Boys Kenza Wilks, Alex Howard-Vyse, and Ga Kitada have gone on to great things at their senior schools. They have been appointed Head Boy of Dulwich College, School Captain of Uppingham, and Deputy Head Boy of Harrow respectively.

Tom Bunbury, Headmaster at Papplewick School in Ascot, commented: “The three young men recently met up at a leadership conference at Wellington College, where they no doubt discussed how being in leadership positions at Papplewick helped them to reach their new exalted positions at their senior schools! We are very proud of all three boys.”

Alex and Kenza were joint Deputy Head Boys in 2012 while Ga was a School Prefect.

RBWM is funding FREE business advice sessions for Royal Borough businesses with fewer than 50 employees and that have been trading for at least 12 months.

The sessions are delivered by the Berkshire Business Growth Hub which works with many Berkshire businesses looking to grow. The tailored advice sessions run in Windsor and Maidenhead.

Cllr Jack Rankin, cabinet member for economic development and property, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for any local small business ambitious for growth.”

The Growth Hub provides advice and guidance on strategic planning, marketing and finance to scale up.

Cllr Rankin added: “This is an exciting time in the Royal Borough with more than £1 billion of investment planned in our town centres over the next few years.

“We are working alongside the existing business community to grow the local economy. We want to support businesses that can then benefit from and contribute to our expanding and vibrant economy.”

Inner Wheel District 9 Chairman, Linda Clarke (right) presents the Margarette Golding award to Mrs. June Martin MBE

 Ascot resident, June Martin MBE was presented with the prestigious Margarette Golding Award at an Ascot Inner Wheel event last week, in recognition of her continual and extensive support given to the Ascot and Sunninghill community since 1962.  This award presented by International Inner Wheel (IIW) in memory of their founder, has only been given to 299 women worldwide since its inception in 2001.  After reading the citation, District Chairman Linda Clarke described June as:-“An inspiration to us all.  It is hard to do justice to the time, effort and resources that June has put into the local community.”  Although she knew about the nomination, June said: “The news still came out of the blue.  I was very surprised but delighted to receive this award.”

Initially June joined the Women’s Voluntary Service (WVS).  In 1975 she played a pivotal role in establishing the Ascot Day Centre Trust and in its subsequent redevelopment to provide hot food, activities and social contact for up to 90 elderly people.  June spent 14 years as chairman before retiring on her 80th birthday when she took on the role of lifelong President.

Girls at St George’s School in Ascot are celebrating  after achieving excellent A level results, with many individual students gaining outstanding grades as well as entrance to top Russell Group universities.

With 74% of all results graded A*/B, the girls and staff are justly proud of their fabulous achievements.

Top marks in the school go to Moe Kishima, who was awarded 3 A*s, 2As and an A grade in her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).  Moe is thrilled to be accepting a place to read http://pharmacygen.com online Medicine at University College London.   Other girls achieving stellar marks include Head Girl, Lottie Hughes who has not only led St George’s over the past year, providing an invaluable link between staff and students but has also achieved A*, A, A.  Other notable performers are Jade Agnew and Qianyi Deng who both achieved 2A*s, A.

The Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) has signed Fat Face and Carphone Warehouse for its £240 million retail and leisure regeneration project The Lexicon. This brings the total of new lettings announced in the last month to seven.

Lifestyle clothing and accessories retailer Fat Face is a significant addition for The Avenue, one of the new streets for fashion in the Lexicon, with the new Marks and Spencer and Fenwick stores book-ending the street. 

In addition, Carphone Warehouse will be relocating from its store in Princess Square into a new larger store on Braccan Walk, opposite the new Primark store.

This news follows August's announcement of five new signings including Smiggle, Beaverbrooks and Footlocker. The new development is now 70% let by floor area equating to just under 400,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space.

BRP has also announced that the new scheme will open on September 7 2017.  The opening has been rescheduled to coincide with the completion of the upgrading of some of the materials and buildings in the scheme, as well as the completion of new areas of public realm to ensure that the new scheme provides a totally new customer experience.

The one year to go milestone was marked this week by the completion of the iconic Fenwick cladding which was celebrated at an event on September 13 2016, with the final piece being lifted into place to complete the eye-catching external envelope of the building.

Ascot based Performing Arts School, NVSDD, has been awarded GOLD in the recent Dance School of the Year Competition. This years judges included Angela Rippon OBE, Anne Walker MBE and Jonathan Gray (Editor of the Dancing Times Magazine). Principal of the school, Natalie Shaw, said about the win, "We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded a Gold trophy. The competition from other schools throughout the UK and Europe was extremely high and we were the only Dance School in Berkshire and West Surrey to reach the finals." In 2017 the school will be celebrating it's 25th anniversary and offers classes in RAD Ballet, Tap, Street Dance, Contemporary, Drama and Musical Theatre in a number of branches including Sunninghill, Bracknell, Warfield and Chertsey.

Natalie added "2015/2016 has been amazing for NVSDD Students  - they have performed in 14 separate shows/productions since November 2015, achieved incredible examination results and had huge success in competitions/auditions and vocational studies. I am so proud of everyone and would not only like to thank NVSDD Students and Parents for helping to raise nearly £2000 for charity this year, but to thank our wonderful teachers - talented, creative, professional and supportive!”

STANLEY WALK BEGINS ITS TRANSFORMATION | Starting on Monday, August 1 2016, Stanley Walk will begin its transformation into the new stylish southern end of what will become Braccan Walk when The Lexicon opens next Spring.

For a period of 12 weeks, it will be necessary to erect scaffolding foundations along the length of the walk to enable work to commence on removing the old concrete slab canopy in readiness for the new modern eye-catching roof.

While the work is being carried out, it is very much business as usual for the retailers operating within Stanley Walk.

Simon Russian, Development Manager, for Legal and General on behalf of Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, said: "Although Stanley Walk will be an area undergoing transformation for this period, these works are essential to transform Stanley Walk into the stylish promenade that Braccan Walk will become.
