Ashford and St Peter’s hospital goes ‘Inner Space’ to diagnose patients with small bowel conditions! | Recently, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals   launched a new procedure called Capsule Endoscopy. This uses state of the art technology going ‘inner space’ to diagnose abnormalities in the small bowel, where traditional endoscopes and colonoscopes cannot reach.

This amazing new device involves the patient swallowing a pill sized camera, which then travels through the stomach and intestine taking many images of the bowel. Being very clever it can adjust how fast it is clicking and taking pictures by identifying how fast or slow it is moving through the bowel. These images are transmitted via Bluetooth to a device worn by the patient on a belt. They are then downloaded onto a computer and subsequently reviewed by a Gastroenterologist.

Patients who have undergone the procedure have commented, “Had no problem with it [the procedure] whatsoever”, “very easy process”, “absolutely no discomfort”, brilliant”.

A public consultation exercise is underway on the future of Shorts Yard off St George’s Lane, Ascot. Members of the team from Shorts Yard are on hand to discuss alternatives for the site and answer any questions you may have.

The very helpful exhibition - which shows a suggested development of around 65 houses on the Green Belt site,  is in the large foyer at St George’s School on St George’s Lane at 10am until 2pm on Saturday 21st May. Your  suggestions and feedback on the future of the site, which has operated for many years as a successful waste management business,  will be very welcome.
Alternatively, if you cannot attend or wish to discuss matters separately, members of the public can contact Patrick Clark on 07860 921 065 or by email at patrick.clark@tfa-ltd.co.uk.

Following several petitions and a 'large number of complaints'  from residents and businesses in Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale, the Royal Borough is 'delaying the changes for at least a year'

Click  on http://petitions.rbwm.gov.uk/sunningscarparks/ to see the petition against levying more charges (scrapping 2 free hours) for the car park on Queen's Road in Sunninghill and also changes at the A 30 Sunningdale Shoppers Car Park.

There was fury and disbelief amongst traders and shoppers in Sunninghill village, over the scrapping of the two free hours in the Queens Road Car Park (pictured below) from April 4th.

As shown in the photo, the new parking tariff would have meant that parkers would have had to pay(50p with an RBWM Advantage Card) instead. Beyond the two hours, charges would remain the same .

Charters School Year 9 students were very pleased to welcome Raul d’Oliveira from Inspire Works and his Samba Workshop.  Raul introduced the Year 9 students to the Samba explaining the culture surrounding Samba as well as the different instruments and rhythms involved.

All Students in Year 9, as part of the Music curriculum, are provided with the opportunity to listen to and perform music during these workshops. Samba differs from a lot of Western music, with its exuberant performance and complex, fast-paced rhythms.  The instruments the students used were called: Surdo, Repique, Ago-go, Ganza and Tamborimes.  The pupils had a great time and were on their feet dancing to the rhythms whilst playing their instruments.
