Duke of Edinburgh - Guest of Honour in Ascot PDF Print

mayors charity ballThe Royal Borough Mayor’s Charity Ball on Saturday 13 March  at Ascot Racecourse, is to be a royal occasion, with the news that HRH The Duke of Edinburgh has kindly agreed to be the guest of honour.

Mayor Cllr Jesse Grey said: “I am absolutely thrilled that The Duke has accepted my invitation to attend. The ball already promised to be a highlight of my year of office but this news is the icing on the cake. I feel sure that The Duke and indeed everyone attending will be delighted with the evening’s programme and that we will raise a considerable amount for the five charities to benefit from the proceeds of the evening.”

Half of the ball’s proceeds will be donated to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research and the remaining 50% will be shared between Thames Valley Hospicecare, WAMDSAD, the Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Trust and Help for Heroes.

School Admissions – Have Your Say PDF Print

schools admissionsRoyal Borough residents are being asked their views on proposed school admissions arrangements for the academic year 2011-2012.

Parents, governors, teachers and other interested residents are being urged to have their say as part of the annual consultation on proposed arrangements for admission to community and voluntary controlled schools.

The consultation covers a wide range of elements of school admission procedures including allocating places, late applications, changes of preference, appeals, waiting lists and "in-year" admissions.

The consultation asks for any changes to the proposals, the reasons for the suggested changes and any further comments.

The consultation closes on Saturday 27 February 2010 after which the new arrangements will be considered and decided upon at Cabinet in March.
