On Friday 28th July 2023, at a glittering awards ceremony, NVSDD was announced as the Overall Category Winner (200+ students) in the prestigious Dance School of the Year Awards 2017! Having won a Gold Award in the 2016 awards, I never imagined that we would win again, let alone do better this year....and we have! SO PROUD! Thank you Anne Walker MBE and the judges Angela Rippon CBE, Paul Haigney & Francesca Filpi ARAD - we are extremely honoured that NVSDD has won another award and been recognised amongst so many other great schools from across the UK and Europe.
A MASSIVE THANK YOU to all NVSDD and Envy Performing Arts teachers, assistants, students and parents for their support in making NVSDD an award winning Performing Arts School in our 25th Anniversary year.
Very best wishes
Natalie

A Planning application has been submitted for a new pavilion with changing facilities, at Victory Fields, Sunninghill - a structure which would be cleverly built into the hillsaide. For more information, go to http://www.rbwm.gov.uk/pam/advanced_search_results.jsp   Consultation concludes on July 12th.

The proposed pavilion has the potential to create a vibrant hub to support and encourage functions with the park and in turn have a profound positive impact on the quality of life of the local community. This is the justification for the exception of allowing a new building in the Green Belt.  A decision is expected by August 8th.

Ehiada Garuba, a pupil at Papplewick School, Ascot,  won Gold in both the under 12,  100m and 200m at the National Prep Schools Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, on 4th July.

Ehiada led the way with his stunning double and was ably supported by Sam Foulds who came 4th in the Under 13 Triple Jump, Harry Bunbury who came in the top ten in the Under 13 High Jump, and Lucas Cohen and Bruno Pagano who ran bravely in incredibly competitive 1500m and 800m races respectively.

Tom Bunbury, Headmaster of Papplewick, said: “We are hugely proud that five of our boys qualified for the National Championships this year and Ehiada’s achievement was quite outstanding.”

On Monday, 27th June, Year 3 boys from   Papplewick School , Ascot,    visited RAF Hendon, where they had a talk from an ARP (Air Raid Precaution) Warden and made a gas mask box.

When the air raid siren sounded they had to rush to the Anderson shelter. Later, they tried on real RAF uniforms that were worn in World War II. The boys were fascinated by the aeroplanes and overwhelmed by the size of some of the bombers such as the Lancaster. The day ended with a visit to the shop where the boys bought model planes, badges and 'Commando' books.

Tom Bunbury, Headmaster of Papplewick, said: “The boys always enjoy visiting RAF Hendon. It helps them understand what the two World Wars were really like.”

Hundreds of Ascot residents, land agents, business people and councillors attended the follow- up to the  ideas session - the  Vision for Ascot High Street,  at Ascot Racecourse on Monday October 29th. The crowd, estimated to be larger than the 200 at the first meeting, heard about radical proposals to transform Ascot into a  'real destination', with a proper two - sided High Street - with hundreds of houses, small shops, workshops,  leisure facilities, a village green, road junction improvements, car parks, cycle paths; even a new health centre and a district green energy generator. The area under consideration stretches from St.George's Lane, to Heatherwood roundabout and from Ascot Station to  the Racecourse stand.

Boys from Papplewick School, Ascot, celebrated HM The Queen’s 90th birthday last Tuesday, 21st June, with a ‘royal’ themed birthday party on The Square. There were flags, streamers, balloons and blowers, plus sandwiches, jelly and scones with cakes for everyone. They all sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Her Majesty with great gusto.

Over 200 fairy cakes and chocolate brownies were constructed into a magnificent birthday cake fit for a Queen, made by the Papplewick kitchen staff.

Tom Bunbury, Headmaster of Papplewick, said: “Thankfully the weather held and the boys enjoyed a proper tea party to celebrate The Queen’s birthday.”

Two local companies have come together to give pre-school children the opportunity to try their hand at straw bale gardening, an innovative trend which is growing in popularity and proving a successful plant nurturing method. PartyBales® are based in Winkfield Row, and are specialists in hay and straw bale hire, providing bale seating and bale decoration at events, weddings, parties and festivals. PartyBales® are keen to demonstrate the versatility of hay and straw bales and donated straw bales to Little Muddy Boots, a gardening and nature club for pre-schoolers and toddlers based in Ascot and Warfield. Little Muddy Boots was founded by Hannah Brewer, as a result of her passion for promoting outdoor play in the early years. Playing and learning together outside stimulates a child's creativity, supports problem-solving skills, boosts their immune system and most importantly can help create precious childhood memories.
