A whopping £850.51 was raised at a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Saturday, 9th September by boys and their parents at Papplewick School in Ascot.

Cakes, samosas and homemade breads galore were donated by generous supporters and sold like hotcakes, leaving only a few crumbs to be swept up.

The money raised will allow MacMillan to pay for 30 nurses to spend an hour each, helping people and their families living with cancer receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

Headmaster Tom Bunbury said: “On behalf of MacMillan: well done everybody who supported us by baking cakes and for their generous donations. Particular thanks to the Parents of Papplewick team for manning the stall on the day. And well done to the Year 7 boys who never miss a sales opportunity and took cakes to parents watching rugby on the sidelines!”

Next Open Morning:   Saturday 4th November 2017 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m   Visit:  www.papplewick.org.uk

Once again, the Rotary Club of Ascot has staged a concert by young musicians, organised by Tony Love, which opened the annual Binfield, Warfield and Winkfield Arts Week 2017. A select group of outstanding young musicians entertained a packed St Peters Church in Cranbourne, with instrumental and vocal performances, displaying - as usual - an incredibly high standard.
