PROPOSALS:  www.ascotcentreconsultation.co.uk      See PETITION objecting to release of Green Belt Land - http://petitions.rbwm.gov.uk/AscotCentreGB/

The Petition failed to attract support from any of the Ascot councillors, who 'debated' it at a full RBWM Council meeting.  Ascot representatives felt that the consortium of developers, builders and landowners were starting to listen to concerns and had been roundly scolded for their poor presentation to the public, in December 2016.

A petition against proposals to build 350 houses in the Green Belt on the south side of Ascot High Street and the open space (currently Car Park 6) on the north side of the High Street.

The petition calls on the Royal Borough to NOT release this land from the Green Belt in the new Borough Local Plan and to remove this site from their allocated sites for housing.

It is the Neighbourhood Plan Delivery Group’s view that, what is being currently proposed by the Ascot landowners consortium for the building of 350 new houses here ( see www.ascotcentreconsultation.co.uk  ), is totally unacceptable and NOT in accordance with the Neighbourhood Plan. A small delegation of Rotarians and their partners from Rotary Club of Ascot lunched at La Cloche at the Carpenters restaurant in Sunninighill near Ascot, on Friday March 31st.

They were there to honour the two owners, Rachid Noui and Franck Jourdan, by awarding them Honorary Membership of Ascot Rotary Club.

This was in recognition of the tremendous help and support, both financial and physical that Franck and Rachid have given the Rotary Club and indeed the local community generally, over more than 10 years.  Of particular note is their hosting of the Annual New Year’s Day Sunninghill Fancy Dress Wheelbarrow Race presentation ceremony, over that period.

After the meal, President Andrew Vallance presented Franck with plaques containing Certificates commemorating their Honorary Membership.

Ascot 2017 (Tuesday 20th – Saturday 24th June). The first new enclosure to open at the Royal Meeting for more than 100 years, it will provide a new perspective on the spectacle of Royal Ascot, located on the inside of the track looking back towards the final Furlong with Ascot’s iconic Grandstand as a backdrop. Showcasing the best of contemporary British summertime, the new space has a style and tempo of its own: a ‘pop-up’ summer scene comprising informal boutique dining experiences, innovative bars, and live music throughout the day and into the evening.

The Village Enclosure sits between the Queen Anne Enclosure and Windsor Enclosure in terms of price point and the Queen Anne Enclosure dress code will apply. Its introduction will allow Ascot to reduce capacity in the existing public enclosures, Queen Anne Enclosure and Windsor Enclosure as part of its continued commitment to customer comfort at the Royal Meeting.
A picturesque bandstand is the centrepiece of the village green, along with two other stages where there will be a mix of live brass, jazz and funk throughout the day. In the evenings, the main stage will host sets from live bands and DJs. Confirmed acts include DJ Goldirocks, the Hackney Colliery Band and Choon Chaps.

Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals  NHS Foundation Trust

The Board at Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recently agreed to introduce parking charges for blue badge holders at their two hospitals as part of a review of our Travel and Car Parking Policy.  This would apply only to those people who do not meet affordability criteria which would enable free parking.

Chief Executive, Suzanne Rankin, explains:  “Introducing these charges is not a decision that has been taken lightly and is one of a number of measures we are taking to maintain and protect patient care by raising some additional income.  While the Board considered the introduction of charging two and a half years ago, and chose not to do so at that time, I want to be completely honest about the reasons we felt we had to put this back onto the table.  Unfortunately, the financial climate we now find ourselves in has become significantly more challenging and increasing our parking charges is just one of a number of measures we are introducing across our hospitals to support our savings plans and ensure that our central funding is focused on the delivery of patient care.”

Concerning the Warfield Neighbourhood Plan concept for Hayley Green, there is a  petition to Bracknell Forest Council, to halt the Warfield Parish Neighbourhood Plan process, to allow residents to discuss housing development, especially with respect to location, according to national Neighbourhood Planning guidance.    Residents were not made fully aware of development plans for Hayley Green until a map was presented on 4th October 2016 and strongly believe that any future development should be sympathetic to the current rural character of the village.

A group of Haley Green residents and custodians of this wonderful corner of Warfield parish wish to keep it for the future, and that of the wider community and urge the steering group to rethink and therefore they petition to halt their plans.

Development is needed but the group feels that it should preserve the countryside focussing on any brown field sites and sympathetic local developments that can be supported by existing infrastructure.
