URGENT APPEAL LAUNCHED TO SUPPORT INCREASED DEMAND FOR INPATIENT CARE SERVICES | Thames Hospice has launched a new fundraising appeal with the goal of raising urgent funds to pay for an additional five Nursing Assistants to support more patients on the Inpatient Unit. Each month the five extra Nursing Assistant posts will cost £10,365; the Hospice would be thrilled if the appeal raised enough to fund 6 months of extra nursing support.

Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic has eased, the Hospice has continued to face unprecedented demands across its services.  Nationally, the average occupancy level for a hospice is 75%; Thames Hospice is now at 92%, making it the busiest hospice in the UK.

As part of Charters School’s thriving Careers Programme, students in Year 9 took part in The Prince's Trust's Enterprise Challenge on Thursday 17 March, when they were able to build their own virtual businesses.

Over 100 students took part in the initiative which was led by trained mentors throughout an entire school day. The students were split into teams and were tasked with developing a virtual pop-up shop, developing their ideas around what should be sold, their profit margins, target market and marketing initiatives. Their choices were then entered into a business simulation game, which enabled them to virtually run their business ides and discover which teams would make the most profit, attract the most customers and crucially have the most sustainable and ethical values.

RBWM :: Charging points  New electric vehicle charging points will support Royal Borough’s climate change and sustainable travel ambitions

Almost 30 new electric vehicle charging points are being installed in Maidenhead and Windsor, increasing charging capability and helping reduce the need for carbon intensive travel.

The council is working with charging infrastructure firm Connected Kerb on the pilot project, with the installation taking place across six sites, which are on-street parking bays, across the borough: St Leonards Road, Frances Road and Albert Street in Windsor and College Road, Cromwell Road and Lower Boyndon Road in Maidenhead.

Work is expected to be completed on the 29 fast charging points soon. Once the installation is complete, the bays will continue to operate as normal and will be available to all users, not just those with electric vehicles.

The fifteen choristers sang services at Beverley Minster and Harrogate Parish Church and gave a concert at Selby Abbey. Ground breaking ceremony marks the start of the transformation of a courtyard garden at St Peter’s Hospital

A ground breaking ceremony was held in one of the courtyard gardens at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey on Friday 25th February 2022, to mark the start of the work that will transform this garden into a healing space, filled with seasonal flowers, leafy plants and pleached trees, as well as the calming sound of water.

The garden will be transformed into a secluded courtyard, with a glass garden room, that will be suitable for hospital beds, and decorated with home-like furniture for patients, their family and friends to use, both day and night, all year round. The clever use of pleached trees, screens and a pergola will provide privacy for those using the garden, which will have ample indoor and outdoor seating for loved ones to be together.
