More flu vaccines are on their way, says leading GP | Local GP and leading health service commissioner, Dr Andy Brooks is reassuring people that more flu vaccinations will be available for those who need them.

This follows a huge, early demand for the vaccine both nationally and regionally with thousands of people having already been vaccinated in areas of Slough, Windsor, Ascot, Maidenhead, Bracknell, Surrey Heath and North East Hampshire and Farnham.

As well as being a GP partner at a busy practice, Dr Brooks is the Clinical Chief Officer of the Frimley Collaborative of Clinical Commissioning Groups, which plan and fund the majority of health services for 800,000 people from Slough to Farnham.

New website for lockdown rules and local data for Berkshire

As England enters new national restrictions, a COVID-19 dashboard has been launched to provide residents with comprehensive guidance on the restrictions that will remain in place until Wednesday 2nd December.

Created to meet the needs of the local community, the website, www.berkshirepublichealth.co.uk , went live this week.

On the ‘My Local Area’ section of the website, users can enter their full postcode for information on the rules and regulations to follow under this national lockdown. The site also provides a wealth of local information, including real-time data on COVID-19 across Berkshire, making it easily accessible to the county’s population of nearly one million residents. Using the dashboard’s interactive map, residents can search for results in their area and compare them with statistics for the rest of the county, the South East region and England as a whole.

Councillor Stuart Carroll, cabinet member for adult social care, children’s services, health and mental health, said: “We know residents are concerned about how to protect themselves and everyone in their household, and understandably they want easy access to what is and isn’t allowed during this latest lockdown.

KART CLUB RACE DAY CANCELLATIONS DON'T DETER PAPPLEWICK FROM RACE TRIALS | The annual Kart Club races between schools from all over the country, run by Greenpower Ltd who provide all of the kits needed to make the battery powered electric karts were of course cancelled due to Covid over the summer but this did not deter Papplewick.

The races are for Year 6 boys only, so all of the boys who took part in the construction of the karts ( now of course in year 7) have had great fun taking part in in-house trial races around the school organised by Ged Parr who runs the activity.

Tom Bunbury, Headmaster said “This is such a popular activity and the boys took great care in constructing two magnificent karts so it was disappointing for them not to have been able to compete with other schools over the summer, but in-house racing proved a popular choice and highlighted some budding racing drivers!”
