Willy Wonkas and Oompa Loompas for special day at Papplewick School: Papplewick School entered into the spirit of Roald Dahl Day on 27 September with gusto, with a hundred boys in costumes related to characters in the popular children’s books, ranging from Bruce Bogtrotter to Violet Beauregard, as well as a host of Willy Wonkas and Oompa Loompas. They included characters from books including The Twits, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The BFG.
Roald Dahl Day is a national event, with boys effectively donating £1 for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and being invited to dress up for the day as any Dahl character.
Headmaster Tom Bunbury said: “Roald Dahl’s books are incredibly popular with the boys and dressing up helps bring the stories to life. We all had a brilliant day.”
