St.Michaels School Have your say on school admissions, residents urged: Royal Borough residents are once again being asked for their views on proposed school admissions arrangements – this time for the academic year 2013/14.

Consultation takes place every year among parents, governors, teachers and other interested residents on proposed arrangements for admissions to community and voluntary controlled schools across the borough.

All local authorities are required to consult on admissions arrangements annually on a wide range of elements of school admission procedures including allocating places, late applications, changes of preference, appeals, waiting lists and ‘in-year’ admissions.

Cllr Eileen Quick, cabinet member for children's services, said: "Although this is something we have to do every year we do not take our responsibilities lightly and we are always very keen to hear the views of residents who are involved or interested in education.

"The views and comments we receive will help us to provide admissions arrangements which meet the needs of as many people as possible so I would encourage people across our community to take the time to read the consultation document and send us their comments."

The consultation asks for any suggested changes to the proposals, the reasons for the suggested changes and any further comments. The closing date is Wednesday 29 February 2012 after which the new arrangements will be considered at the cabinet meeting in March.

The consultation can be viewed at www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/admissions-consultation.htm or paper copies are available by emailing admissions.consultation@rbwm.gov.uk or by calling 01628 683870.

Responses can be sent to Admissions Arrangements Consultation, Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead SL6 1RF or by email to admissions.consultation@rbwm.gov.uk.

Voluntary aided schools and academies in the borough are also consulting on their admission arrangements for entry in September 2013.  Consultation documents will be provided directly by the schools concerned.
