People who own or use cars in the Royal Borough will have views about parking – at their home, on local streets, in car parks and in town and village centres.

Now the Council wants to hear from them and has launched a consultation so they can help plan for future parking needs across the borough.
The questionnaire is available at www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/parking_consultations.htm  and can be completed online or printed and returned to Parking Consultation, Freepost SL1453, Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead.

Cllr Phill Bicknell, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Environment, said: “There are numerous and often competing demands on space. We want to ensure our parking controls and car parks are doing their job and meeting the needs of everyone who lives and works here.........

“Managing parking helps deliver a safe, fair and efficient transport system and makes town centres accessible to everyone. That’s why we need residents to tell us about their experiences through this consultation so we can use the information to help improve parking across the borough.”

The consultation starts  on Monday 11th July and explores:
•    how often people use different types of parking
•    any difficulties they have with finding parking spaces
•    on-street parking controls – do they need changing in any way to better suit residents’ needs (e.g. hours or days of control)
•    any issues with illegally parked vehicles
•    quality of car parking and how car parks could be improved
•    current parking systems – how easy they are to use, including applying for and renewing residents’ permits and paying in car parks.

Copies of the form will be available from local libraries, the Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead, and York House, Sheet Street, Windsor, and in the First Stop Shops in Sunningdale, Sunninghill, Eton and Datchet. Comments may also be sent to this Freepost address or by email to parking@rbwm.gov.uk. The closing date is Friday 19 August.

A report on the consultation outcomes will go to Cabinet later in the year and a summary will be published on the council’s website www.rbwm.gov.uk and in the residents’ newspaper, Around the Royal Borough.
