On Monday 26th September boys and staff at Papplewick celebrated European Day of languages.

Various workshops were hosted by diligent parents (Spanish, Portugese, Swiss and Austrian/German were held when the boys were introduced to a range of topics ranging from the complete geography of Spain and learning the alphabet and the characteristics of the Castilian and Spanish languages to the historical evolution of the Swiss languages as well as the legend of Guillaume Tell (13th century !)

In the Portugese workshop they were introduced to some basic Portugese greetings as well as the link between Portugal and Brazil.

The boys also looked into Austrian Music with composers such as Mozart and his family.  They also looked at the diversity of Austrian pastries such as Strudels and Sachertorte !

The boys were imaginative and resourceful in their costume making and spent much 'artistic' effort in putting these together !

Tom Bunbury, Headmaster said " European Day of Languages is always a hit here at Papplewick - the boys and I suspect hardworking parents put much effort into their costumes.  The topic involving Austrian pastries raised particular interest for some strange reason !"
