Thames Hospice Statement:  We are all so deeply saddened by the news announced yesterday of the death of Her Majesty The Queen.

We are honoured to have welcomed The Queen, with her daughter HRH The Princess Royal, to open our new Hospice less than two months ago. It was to be one of her last public engagements and during her visit Her Majesty was so relaxed and clearly really enjoyed chatting to members of staff, volunteers, and one of our patients. She never stopped smiling throughout the visit, and unveiled a plaque commemorating the opening of our new facility.

The Queen has set a shining example of service, and we are so fortunate as a country to have been ruled and served by a monarch who exemplifies courage, integrity and kindness.

I would like to take a moment to recognise that, whilst we are all greatly saddened, this news may fall harder for those who are already suffered a personal bereavement recently. If this is you then I want to assure you we are thinking of you now, as we think of The Queen's own family and loved ones.

We have opened an online tribute for Her Majesty, on behalf of all at Thames Hospice. This can be found here and you are welcome to add your messages of condolences and share your memories.

We are grateful for The Queen's life-time of support and service and I know Her Majesty will be greatly missed by our community.
