And now for the 2023 Wheelbarrow Race !

  

The 21st annual race was held on MONDAY 2nd January 2017, (and NOT on New Year’s Day, as that was a Sunday) at 12 noon, starting and  finishing at the School Road car park behind St Michael’s School in the centre of Sunninghill.   

Organised by Rotary Ascot, 19 teams took part in glorious winter sunshine, raising a significant some of money.  Organisers report that, with 19 teams participating, they should be able to donate another £7,000 to the Ascot & District Day Centre, with a little left for the Rotary Charities.

 They expressed gratitude to the plucky teams, as well as the sponsors - De Veres, Ascot Racecourse, Strutt and Parker and Maloneys Budgens in Ascot and The Carpenters/La Cloche .(The finest French restaurant and pub in England)

The coveted trophies for Fastest Times, (Men,  Mixed and Women ), Best Fancy Dress and Most Sponsorship Money Raised - latter to be announced, were awarded at a brief ceremony at the Carpenters, to The  Badly  Dressed   Men, The  Hikers - by the cubs. the  Scarlett  Ladies and The  Red  Barrow formation flying team. respectively.  winners also received certificates and wine.
