Charters School  | The National finals of the British Schools’ Modern Biathlon was held at Crystal Palace on Saturday 19th March. Modern biathlon consists of a separate swim and run for all age groups with the distances depending on the competitor’s age. Competitors run and swim times are then converted to points, with the final positions being decided by the total number of points achieved overall after both disciplines. The Under 14 Girls team of Kaya Sittampalam Main, Sophie Elsey and Sophie Quirk were placed 3rd in the country which is an amazing achievement.

Students had to qualify from the previous regional rounds to make the National finals and Mrs Kirstie Hartwell, Curriculum Leader for the Physical Education Faculty at Charters said, “We are very proud of all of our qualifying students who did exceptionally well. I must mention Emily Miller who finished 12th in the Under 13 Girls competition and of course the Under 14 Girls team who finished 3rd. All the students have shown enormous commitment and I am pleased that their dedication has been rewarded.”

Sophie Quirk said, “I was pleased to come away with the fastest run time of the competition for my age group.”
