Planning for the future – residents invited to ‘do it for themselves’ : Royal Borough residents are doing it for themselves on planning for the future – and now it’s time for anyone who hasn’t had their say so far to join in.

Six of the nine neighbourhood planning areas in the borough have drawn up their proposals for designation as a Neighbourhood Plan Area - one of which is Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale. These proposals, including the proposed neighbourhood boundaries, are now going out for public consultation.

Cllr Christine Bateson, cabinet member for community partnerships and neighbourhood planning, welcomed this important step towards taking planning strategy closer to residents.

She said: “Neighbourhood Plans allow the people who are most affected by planning decisions – local residents – to outline their vision on new housing, employment and leisure facilities as well as looking at other important matters such as transport and travel. They can help determine where development should go and decide the type and design of development that can be granted automatic planning permission.

“Many thanks to the community-minded residents who responded to our public invitation and helped draw up the proposals. I would now encourage as many of their neighbours as possible to give us their comments – this really is the moment to have your say.”

The other  Neighbourhood Plan Areas out for consultation are: ; Bisham; Bray; Horton and Wraysbury; Maidenhead and Cox Green; and Old Windsor.

The consultation on five neighbourhood plan areas started on Friday 23 November and will run until Friday 11 January 2013, the exception being Horton and Wraysbury which runs until Friday 18 January 2013.

Anyone who lives, works or conducts business in the borough is welcome to comment at www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/pp_neighbourhood_plans.htm

The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations were introduced in April this year.
