On Tuesday 25th May, Year 7 students in Mrs Boorman’s English lesson, at Charters School,  were immersed in the word of Harry Potter, to help them organise their writing into paragraphs more effectively.

Surrounded by life-sized cardboard cut-outs of the characters from J.K. Rowling’s first book, the students looked at the letter that Harry received in The Philosopher’s Stone which invited him to Hogwarts for the first time. They were then asked to write a similar letter to inform a new student that they had been offered a place at Charters.

The students had a great time learning about the structure of paragraphs and it was wonderful to see them use some of the books that were donated to the English Department last Christmas by a parent.
