On Friday 20th April Charters School, Sunningdale , Charters School in Sunningdale celebrated its Diamond Anniversary with a Gala Dinner at Windlesham Golf Club. The school first opened its doors on 23rd April 1958 with around 400 students and 60 years later there are now 1700 students at the school and over 200 staff.

Students provided the entertainment in the form of the Charters Jazz Band as the guests arrived for the champagne reception, before dinner was served and a magician performed close-up tricks at each table (pictured above).

The guests who included parents, staff and alumni were also treated to a breath-taking student dance display before the DJ took over and the guests did their own dancing until the early hours.

The school would like to thank all the local businesses who donated items for the raffle and auction and those who sponsored tables or advertised in their souvenir programme.

The students who performed at the Gala Dinner embodied the school’s motto of Unity, Respect, Excellence and the night raised nearly £6,000 for school funds.

Mr Richard Pilgrim, Co-Headteacher at Charters School said, “Charters School has always seen itself as being at the heart of the local community and that is why it was lovely to meet with so many supportive staff, parents and friends for this social and celebratory event. We are planning a Summer Celebration at the school on Saturday 30th June to mark the end of our Diamond Anniversary celebrations and we hope to see many more familiar faces from the past 60 years.”
