Clover Lee, the talented finalist in BBC’s The Great Pottery Throw Down, paid a visit to Lili Pottery at Fernygrove Farm at the end of April. It was her first visit to the picturesque venue, and it won’t be her last.

Lilian Meeks, the owner of Lili Pottery, takes up the story. “Clover is an amazing artist. After watching her do so well in the competition, I invited her to see what we do here at Lili Pottery. She came for a visit, and I’m very excited to be able to announce that as a result, we will be working together over the summer.”

The great news is that Clover will be running courses at Lili Pottery during August, starting on Saturday 5th, including three-hour workshops focusing on working with clay or mug-making, and shorter one-to-one training sessions based on throwing clay and making small bowls on a pottery wheel. Before that, on Sunday 4th June, Clover will be at Lili Pottery from 10.30am – 2pm, giving free clay-throwing demonstrations on the potter’s wheel.

Lili Pottery opened at Fernygrove Farm last December, as a relaxing venue to spend a couple of hours painting pottery pieces. It has become very popular, and since it opened, Lilian has also made the studio available as a gallery and shop for local artists to display and sell their creations. The walls are adorned with the wonderful creations of the local ‘But Is It Art’ art group, and the cabinets are filled with the unique handiwork of numerous other talented craftspeople – wooden pieces, handmade bags, scented candles, postcards and many other delights are in store for visitors. All of them are for sale, and shortly they will be joined by hand-made pottery by Clover herself!

Come and see Clover demonstrating the wonderful craft of clay-throwing, and take some time to have a look around the Lili Pottery studio. Clover’s courses over the summer are sure to create a great deal of interest, and demand will be high, so if you would like more information or to reserve a place, please contact Lilian, either on 07470 152229 or lilipottery@yahoo.com. As dates become available, they will also be displayed on Lili Pottery’s website, www.lilipottery.co.uk.4
