Two Year 11 students at Charters School   have been awarded places to study at The Junior Royal College of Music next year.

They will attend each Saturday, allowing them to work with the most inspirational teachers and the country’s best young musicians.

Mr Mike McKenna, Head of Music at Charters said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for these two talented musicians. They will get some excellent tuition and invaluable experiences working with other musicians. We can’t wait to see how much they progress once they start their studies.”

Although places are extremely limited and despite facing huge competition, Hani impressed the interviewers so much that they offered him a place there and then.

Hani said, “It really is an amazing opportunity and I can’t wait to start.”

The Development Team at Charters, which looks for new steams of revenue and sponsorship at the school, recently arranged the donation of three Timpani drums from Richmond College. After practicing on these new instruments before his interview, Isaac gained the only available percussion place at the JRCM. Isaac said, “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and one that I am going to enjoy. The JRMC has some of the best facilities in Europe.”
