Sunninghill and Ascot Parish Council (SAPC) has a busy year in prospect, starting with the Annual Parish Assembly in March, a significant programme of improvements to local parks, as well as the 2019 Parish Party in July.

The Annual Parish Annual Assembly will be on Wednesday 20th March. It’s a good opportunity for Parish residents, other interested parties and community representatives, to get up to speed with Parish affairs and to give feedback.  The Parish Council has a significant budget to spend – thanks the Parish Precept and developer contributions, so it wants your views on where this money is needed!...

The Lexicon and Bracknell Forest Council, in partnership with the national charity, the Community Heartbeat Trust (CHT) are delighted to announce that they have  installed a defibrillator on March 5th, in the High Street, on the wall next to Game.

Defibrillator machines deliver an electric shock in Cardiac Arrest to stop fibrillation (vibrating) in the heart, and allow the heart to resume working normally.  The quick use of Chest Compressions (CPR) followed by a defibrillator can give an unresponsive person the best chance of survival before an ambulance arrives.

The machine analyses the patient's heart rhythm and uses visual or voice prompts to guide people through each step.

To access, call 999. The cabinet at the Lexicon is not locked, but many are. If a locked cabinet is nearby, the ambulance service will tell you the access code. Take the defibrillator to the patient and switch it on. The defibrillator will give easy to follow instructions via audio and text display.

Ten local community groups  received handsome cheques from Sunninghill and Ascot Parish Council, who had nearly £10,000 to award, thanks mainly to the hugely successful 2018 Sunninghill Victorian Street Fayre.

The Street Fayre produced £7,500 and the Council is adding £1,750 from the Parish Council Grant Allocation.  Councillors approved all this year’s applications for grants, covering diverse projects - from disabled toilets at Sunningdale Bowling Club, to hammocks for the newly- formed Explorers unit at the Sunnningdale Scout group.

The largest grant went to Ascot & District Day Centre (life President, Mrs June Martin pictured above), which has provided home from home care for Ascot and the Sunnings elderly residents, for 40 years.   Many members are collected daily by the Centre’s mini buses. A hot meal, refreshments, activities and a number of personal care services, are provided and greatly enjoyed by Centre users. The Council cash will help with running costs.

The tray will increase Saad’s independence, enabling him to use his laptop, read and eat with increasing ease.  He is currently sitting his mock exams prior to taking his GCSEs in the summer.

The Sunningdale Hope Trust is a registered charity set up to provide help and assistance to individuals and community organisations in Sunningdale, Sunninghill, Ascot and the surrounding areas.

Jacqui Sassi, Deputy SENCO, said, “we are lucky to work closely with the Trust who have helped support many of our students and their families with compassion and discretion.”

Saad said “Thank you, it has really helped me in my day to day life – it’s fantastic!”
