The aim of the race is for teams of four (men, women, children or mixed) to push a wheelbarrow with one of their number in it, around the marshalled course of just 1 mile.  Along the way there are four stopping points, including three pubs and one other ‘fuelling’ station, where each member drinks either a ½ pint of beer, soft drink or water.

Teams should be given a name and one member must be over 18.  Anyone under 18 is only allowed to participate on the strict understanding that he or she is only allowed to drink soft drinks or water, and identification may be sought by the publicans or marshals.

In order to qualify for the fastest team prizes, the wheelbarrow must be the traditional type with just one wheel. Those teams that have more than one wheel may of course enter and qualify for the Best Fancy Dress or Most Sponsorship Raised prizes.

The GOOD NEWS is that any drink consumed during the race by the participants is FREE!
