Draft Corporate Plan agreed by Cabinet | The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead’s draft Corporate Plan was agreed by Cabinet on 28th October. The plan is now due to be discussed at Full Council on 23rd November.

A Corporate Plan is an essential component of good governance as it sets out the headline areas where change needs to be driven the most in the next five years, to ensure efforts and resources are directed at the right issues across the borough. At its heart, is the desire to create a sustainable borough of opportunity and innovation.

The Corporate Plan also sets out the council’s approach to achieving these changes and reflects the current situation - recovery from the Covid pandemic, wider changes in the shape of the economy, a growing and ageing population, persistent pockets of deprivation and inequalities, and the high housing costs across the Royal Borough.

Councillor Andrew Johnson, leader of the council, said: “These are challenging times for local government, but our Corporate Plan is designed to crystallise our focus on driving the change we want to see in the borough’s future. It’s based on evidence of the most important challenges we face.

“This Plan focuses on the work of the Council but recognises we’ll only succeed in achieving change where it’s needed, by working together with our residents, communities, parishes, voluntary and community sector, statutory partners, delivery partners and businesses.”

“The existing services we provide for residents today – and every day – are no less important, and we will continue to make services simpler to access, faster and better, and to live by our corporate values.”

The draft Corporate Plan was also reviewed by the Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Panel in October which agreed a series of recommendations discussed by Cabinet. Cabinet members accepted a number of these recommendations - including new goals on improving air quality, increasing walking, and highlighting sustainability within the overarching vision statement.

Furthermore, a six-week consultation on the draft Corporate Plan was held this summer, inviting public feedback and from the council’s partners, on the headline objectives as well as any areas needing greater attention. More than 500 residents and organisations responded to this consultation, and their feedback helped to inform the development of the full draft plan discussed by the Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Panel and then Cabinet.
