A mad keen golfer whose husband jokes she plays 8 days a week now faces a ‘where to play’ dilemma. Jackie Taylor, an ex-captain of Wexham Park Golf Club and still treasurer of the club’s Ladies section, is smiling all the way to the first tee after winning a much sought after prize.
For fun she entered a WIN A FREE MEMBERSHIP competition run by Royal Ascot Golf Club.....and luckily picked up the prestigious prize.
Delighted 13 handicapper Jackie, who took up golf 17 years ago, is so keen she has travelled to Spain, Portugal, Tenerife, Dubai, Turkey and Morocco to play the game. Now she can flip a coin whether to play Wexham Park or Royal Ascot.
Jackie, a retired chartered accountant who has wasted no time getting involved with Club life, said “It’s a great problem to have. It’s a great course and wonderful to play”.
Royal Ascot Golf Club Chairman Andrew Davidson said ”We were delighted to have hundreds of entries for our competition. We’re extremely proud of our superb course and I’m sure Jackie will love it.”

Royal Ascot is a Members’ Club with around 600 golfers, but welcomes guests, visitors, societies, and charity events. There are active Gents and Ladies’ Sections, a flourishing Seniors’ Group, and a highly successful Juniors’ Section. There are ‘roll-ups’ on most days which you can join or just come along with your friends and benefit from our ‘no tee time booking’ policy.
The challenging 6294 yard parkland course (HSBC Golf Monthly Gold Medal Award) on 150 acres of wooded Crown land was described by one former Ryder Cup player as “one of the best new English courses I have played for a long time.” The course has already hosted top flight Amateur competitions organised by the BB&O, the local County Golfing Association, and Professional events for the PGA which is testament to the quality of the venue.
