Charters School in Sunningdale | Over the past ten weeks, teams of students from all year groups at Charters School have participated in the Ascot Wealth Management Young Entrepreneur Competition.  Twelve teams of students planned, marketed, manufactured and sold their goods to see who could produce the biggest profit.  On Thursday 16 March the school celebrated with a champagne reception and prize-giving ceremony to celebrate their magnificent achievements.

The winning team, who increased their initial funding by the largest percentage, was Team New Vison. The students won a business day out in London and an amazing prize of £1000 to spend on an event of their choice.  This team sold Bubble tea, recognising a growing demand for the product and a lucrative gap in the market.

Overall, the twelve teams raised in excess of £16,000 for the school, an unqualified success for a scheme in its pilot year.  Speakers thanked the AWM mentors, the staff at Charters school and the parents who all put in so much time and energy to help the teams succeed. Group and individual prizes were awarded in a range of different categories, recognising the tremendous efforts of all those involved.

The inspiration for the competition came from Mark Insley, an ex-Charters student and Managing Director of Ascot Wealth Management. It is hoped that his initiative has equipped the students with a range of business skills that will help them in the future & that the competition will run again during the next academic year, generating much needed funds for the school. The competition would not have been possible without the generous support of 12 local businesses, who invested in the teams following a pitching event at Belron Uk’s Milton Park.
