END OF SEASON REPORT Ascot Blues Softball Club had two teams playing in the Windsor & Maidenhead League on weekday evenings. At the end of the 2009 summer season, the Blue Sox came a espectable 5th in the 1st Division, but the Blue Jays came a disappointing last in the 2nd Division (or 9th, should we say?!), although only a few points separated the teams at the bottom end of the table. There is an indoor league coming up from the end of October, played in Slough. The Ascot Blues were champions of that League in 2008 and are hoping to emulate that success. The challenging 6294 yard parkland course (HSBC Golf Monthly Gold Medal Award) on 150 acres of wooded Crown land was described by one former Ryder Cup player as “one of the best new English courses I have played for a long time.” The course has already hosted top flight Amateur competitions organised by the BB&O, the local County Golfing Association, and Professional events for the PGA which is testament to the quality of the venue.
