“Avant-garde painter, designer and decorator, Vanessa Bell, sister of Virginia Woolf, was the warm heart of the Bloomsbury Group; the set was once described as “living squares and loving triangles”.

Navigating the tides of sexual and artistic revolution with tolerance, irreverence and wit she had a central role in the social and aesthetic life of Bloomsbury.  In the lecture, our lecturer, Julia Musgrave asks if Vanessa Bell, the painter, was as radical as Virginia Woolf the writer.”
