Cumberland Lodge will be opening its doors once again, over the weekend of 14th-15th September, as part of the Heritage Open Days festival. There will be free tours from 10am till 4pm. Places must be reserved in advance, and reservations will open shortly, at cumberlandlodge.ac.uk .

Cumberland Lodge, the former royal residence in Windsor Great Park, will be offering free tours throughout the weekend of 14-15th September, as part of the national Heritage Open Days festival.

Cumberland Lodge has been home to an educational foundation since 1947, but the stunning building has a fascinating history with Republican roots, dating back to the aftermath of the English Civil War in the 17th century.

After the Restoration of the monarchy in 1660, the house became the official residence of the Rangers of the Great Park, including Sarah Churchill, the first Duchess of Marlborough, and in the nineteenth century, Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein with his wife Princess Helena, the third daughter of Queen Victoria.

Cumberland Lodge takes its name from William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland and second son of King George II, who was Ranger from 1746.

Guided tours will take place on the hour, at 10am, 11am, 2pm and 3pm each day. Everyone is welcome.

Places must be reserved in advance, as spaces are limited and likely to be in high demand. Please book online at https://www.cumberlandlodge.ac.uk/whats-on/heritage-open-days or email Emma Albery at ealbery@cumberlandlodge.ac.uk.

The site is wheelchair accessible and there is plenty of free parking on site. Refreshments will be available to purchase. All proceeds will help to support the charitable work of Cumberland Lodge, which empowers people, through dialogue and debate, to tackle the causes and effects of social division.

September 19th 2019.

Like its name, the Roaring Twenties was a loud and boisterous decade, marked by novelty, modernity and huge social, technological, and economic change.

Following the dark days of the Great War, it spawned a generation of wealthy and privileged Bright Young Things who were determined to shock and who broke with the conventions of the past to pursue a life of hedonism, fuelled by an endless round of champagne, cocaine, parties and jazz. This talk aims to conjure up the energy and originality of the decade and to explore the lives of its leading figures and examples of its most innovative art and design.

ASCOT ORGAN and KEYBOARD CLUB will meet on  Friday September 20th , at All Saints Hall, London Road, Ascot.

ADOS is a friendly club that meets monthly. It holds a mixture of professional and amateur nights and the occasional charity evening. This not only raises money for good causes, but also promotes the club. The club tries to give younger artistes just starting on the circuit a chance as well as the old favourites. As you will see from our concert diary they have a good selection of top artistes covering many styles of music. Refreshments are included in the entrance fee so why not go along and hear some of the best professional organists play - or just listen to some of the local talent you didn't know existed!
The club usually meets on the third Friday of the month at 8pm. Subscription: £10; Concerts: Members admission: £5.00 , Visitors admission: £6.00 . Amateur Nights: Members: £3,  Visitors : £4.
