CADS next production will be ‘Are You Being Served?’ by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft, to be directed by Mike Young with assistance from Clare Humphreys and will be staged in St Peter’s Hall, Cranbourne in April 2019. Read-through:   Tuesday 15th January in St Peter’s Hall at 7.30pm

For those who are too young to remember this successful television series aired in the 70’s and 80’s, the setting is in a department store, Grace Brothers, as the well loved staff prepare first for a sale of German goods and then depart en masse for a staff holiday at a one-star hotel in Spain. Will the tropical heat, Spanish crumpet, giant woof ‘n’ poofs and randy revolutionaries prove too much for our happy band? If you are happy to find out more, there will be a read-through and auditions coming up in January.

Dates of the production: 11th, 12th and 13th April 2019 evenings, with a matinee on Saturday.

Cumberland Lodge is inviting people to our historic library at 2pm on Monday 21st January, for a talk by Peter Symonds, on former Cumberland Lodge resident and first female Ranger of Windsor Great Park, Sarah Churchill.

Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough, was one of the most influential women of her time. A close confidant of Queen Anne, both she and her husband, the renowned Duke of Marlborough, exerted influence over both the Crown and Government, taking advantage of their many court appointments.

Sarah's shrewdness was matched only by her temper, which contributed to a breakdown in her relationship with Queen Anne and ultimately to dismissal from court. This talk examines Sarah's life and influence, including her rapid rise, and ultimate fall, from power.

Tickets cost £10 per person. This is a fundraising event. All the money raised will help to support our work as a charity that empowers people, through dialogue and debate, to promote progress towards more peaceful, open and inclusive societies.

Please contact  01784 497790 or email us at: ealbery@cumberlandlodge.ac.uk

The ticket price includes refreshments of tea and cake, to be served after the presentation. There is free parking on site.
