Delivered UK opens new parcel facility as surge in online shopping continues across Thames Valley and Middlesex

  • The opening comes following significant growth for the business in the last quarter of 2020.
  • The new depot allows the company to better serve SME customers across the region at a time where high demand for delivery services continues.
  • Notable growth seen across local food and drink SMEs as shoppers find new ways of sourcing goods they rely on.

Delivered UK, part of The APC network - the largest independent parcel delivery network in the UK - has opened a new operational parcel depot at Perth Trading Estates, Slough.  The opening comes following significant growth for the business at its existing depot in Slough - having recorded 25% overall growth in the last quarter of 2020 - spurred by a continued surge in online shopping across the region amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new depot provides 5,000 sq. ft. of premium warehouse space, allowing the business to build on its Overnight, Sameday and International parcel collection and delivery service offerings to local businesses across all SL and UB postcodes, supporting their growth, and through the nationwide coverage of the APC network, enabling them to reach an ever expanding national customer base.

After practically all their lives spent with at least one dog, the Mear family now finds itself without one.  Their dear Simba, a Fox Red Labrador (rescue) died recently and they feel that it is probably time  to try managing without one, which is strange and also hard.

Being someone who loves dogs, Hilary would like to do a little to support a charity connected with them.  Over the last three years she has been painting on canvas or art paper - aiming to sell the art and donate the profits to Assistance Dogs. We have all seen examples of the wonderful things dogs can be trained to do and at a time like this, charities are finding it tough.

A member of Ascot Inner Wheel - which supports many charities -  Hilary remembers one of their speakers from a charity supporting Assistance Dogs who brought her remarkable dog with her to the meeting.  Members were amazed at how the dog pushed a load of washing into a ‘washing machine’ and did various other clever things!

Hilary has 64 paintings for sale - varied in both in style and colour - and would be happy to e-mail the catalogue to anyone interested   She is also open to commissions  - just specify a description of the painting needed, with size, colours, paper or canvas, frame or no frame, and so on.    Prices vary from a very reasonable £50 to £65.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Trust has introduced a number of measures which include visiting restrictions (except in some circumstances). This is part of our Infection Prevention and Control strategy to minimise footfall on site and to help reduce transmission of the virus across the hospitals to protect patients and staff.

We realise how difficult it is to be unable to see your loved one whilst they are in hospital, particularly during this worrying time. Our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) team are doing all they can to ensure you can keep in touch with your family member if they are an inpatient at Ashford or St Peter’s Hospitals. Aided by a team of volunteers, the PALS team are delivering letters and helping to arrange video calls between patients and relatives to allow them to stay connected to those that matter.

If you’d like to send a letter or arrange a video call with a loved one who is currently an inpatient at Ashford or St Peter’s Hospitals, please contact: asp-tr.patient.advice@nhs.net.

We are also looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help in a number of areas so if this is something you would be interested in doing, please contact Joanne Rockett, volunteer coordinator for more information - asp-tr.voluntary.services@nhs.net

Like many schools during the current pandemic, Charters School in Sunningdale has developed new ways of remote and blended learning to ensure that its students are able to continue their education from their home environment.

There is a proportion of students, however, for whom the impact of the Covid-19 Lockdown will have a detrimental effect. The school is doing everything it can, but has launched a funding campaign to enable it to do more.
