A NEW LIBRARY FOR SUNNINGDALE?

New non-static library consultation by RBWM

A new library, the borough’s fourteenth, is being consulted on and residents’ opinions are needed on where the mobile or container option should go.

The plans could see a non-static service point that is able bring additional services and staff from the borough’s libraries directly to areas that do not have them for up to seven days a week.

A consultation is now running until Sunday 10th September, offering residents the chance to give feedback about where they would want access, what opening hours would be most suitable and what other services would be useful to include.

At a time when many other councils are closing libraries or reducing opening hours the Royal Borough is creating more and investing in these well-used services.

Cllr Samantha Rayner, cabinet member for culture and communities, said: “We want to hear from residents how they would benefit most from access to a new mobile or container library.

“Our libraries have an important place in the heart of our communities, especially now that our library and resident service team are available to help in person, seven days a week, at the three service hubs in Ascot, Maidenhead and Windsor.

“This new mobile service will help increase access to our libraries by bringing the books, services and friendly staff to our residents’ communities.”

Three possible locations to be served by the new service have been identified as having demand and residents are being asked whether they would like to see an extended mobile or container library service at Bray/Holyport, Furze Platt or Sunningdale.
