Click on the photo to enlarge it   Pictured:  Winner Martha Collison receives her trophy from Ascot Rotary President Bob Linnell The Rotary Club of Ascot staged the East Berkshire Final of the national Young Chef competition at the Licensed Victuallers School recently.  Competitors from 5 local schools (St Mary's School, Ascot, Charters School, Ascot, St Georges School, Ascot, Licensed Victuallers’ School, Ascot and Ranelagh School of Bracknell) took part in the event, in which the competitors were required to produce a 2 course meal for 2, with a budget of £11 for ingredients.
The winner was Martha Collison of Charters School. Her winning meal comprised a main course of Chicken Roulade filled with Cream Cheese served with a Roast Butternut Squash and Chestnut Risotto, Parmesan and Chilli Crisps and Rocket Salad, followed by Wholemeal Molten Chocolate Fondant served with Raspberry Coulis and Whole Fresh Raspberries.
Presenting the winner’s trophy, Ascot Rotary Club President Bob Linnell said “These young people achieve an amazing standard of achievement in this competition, and we are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity for them to demonstrate their skills”.
The winner and the runner up, Georgina Bleeker of St Mary's School, now go forward to the Thames Valley District final in the New Year.  The winner from the District Final goes through to a Regional Final, and the Regional winners compete in the National Final next Spring.
