The popular Sunninghill Victorian Street Fayre was opened by a very special guest on Sunday: This year’s guest was none other than Queen Victoria, (Well, Allison Sharpe in disguise!).
Cllr Barbara Hilton, Chairman of the Sunninghill Victorian Street Fayre Committee, said: “The Street Fayre is a great pre-Christmas community event and this year’s event was a great mix of the traditional and the new, with more than 40 festive stalls" There were hot roasted chestnuts, Punch and Judy Shows, a traditional children’s swingboat ride, swing chairs and the chance to meet Santa in his Grotto, as well as modern - day attractions, including battery-powered jeeps, roundabouts and games, not to mention a beer tent and foods stalls selling everything from hot pork rolls, Indian and Italian cuisine to candy floss and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. ”
The event also featured live entertainment from Ascot’s Rock Choir,
Thames Valley Chorus, Chavey Down Swing Band and St Andrews Pipes and
Drums, as well as performances from the Sunninghill-based Quince Players, Twinkle Tots children’s dance
school, students from Instrumentally music school and Redroofs Theatre
School. There were refreshments on offer throughout the village
including tea, coffee and mulled wine at Ascot Day Centre. Younger visitors joined a children’s Victorian Fancy Dress Competition where every entrant received a £5 voucher to spend at Sunninghill-based gift shop Inspirations just for taking part and prizes will be awarded for the best “Victorian” dressed girl and boy.

The Fayre will help raise funds for two Sunninghill-based charities: Ascot Day Centre, which provides day care and support for the elderly, and Sebastian's Action Trust, which provides respite holidays and practical support for seriously-ill children and their families.
