South Ascot residents will soon be enjoying the benefits of a revitalised open space where they can stroll, walk the dog, relax or kick a ball about. Work starts on Allens Field, off Liddell Way, early in February and it is hoped the area will be open to the public in time for the Easter weekend (Friday 10 April to Monday 13 April). Cllr David Hilton, councillor for Ascot and Cheapside ward, added: “The improvements are sure to make Allens Field even more popular with locals who will now have a more attractive and welcoming open space on their doorstep.”
From May onwards paths will be cut through the open grassed areas and other maintenance will be carried out as required. The Royal Borough will manage the site which it has leased from the owner, the Sunninghill Fuel Allotment Trust, while Sunninghill and Ascot Parish Council will assist with its day-to-day maintenance. Part of the site will be fenced off for improvements to be made later this year. Residents’ views on what they would like to see there are welcome and will be considered for inclusion in future improvement plans. Anyone who would like to join in a tree planting session or other activities, or sponsor a tree, are also invited to contact the council on 01628 796093,
