Footdown Forms in Ascot

December 17th saw the first meeting of the newly-formed Ascot Fifteen, led by mentoring guru Mark Kilgallon. With careers in professional football, the Metropolitan Police and top coaching roles, not to mention a near death experience, Mark is now focussing on helping members of his Fifteen be the best that they can be. The seven current members spent the day at the Royal Berkshire Hotel, followed by a private dinner, where they were joined by other Fifteen members and potential new recruits.
The evening was concluded with an exclusive and very intimate performance by Ultravox band member Midge Ure, a member of the Bath Fifteen, who also talked about his experiences of Footdown. He told the group how his Fifteen had helped him to overcome issues concerning organising a new tour with Ultravox after decades apart, and although it may not be boardroom decisions, the essence of support is the same.
Midge admitted that when he first joined he was reluctant to try to give advice to his peers, fearing that their world of business was very different to his experience in the music industry. However, he quickly came to the realisation that this is exactly what makes Footdown special – the very best people from all walks of life coming together to support each other and help put a different perspective on the challenges each faces.
One of the new Ascot members summed up the meeting, saying: “We have an amazing blend of people in the group and the foundation of a great team, who I am sure will teach me a very great deal, stretch my thoughts and ideas, and add fuel to my imagination and personal aspirations - all in an environment where I very, very much hope I can reciprocate to everyone's benefit.”
