Community Litter Pick at Bouldish Farm
Bouldish Farm gets the cleaning bug: It was litter picks at the ready as Bouldish Farm Estate, Ascot, became the latest area in the borough to benefit from a community clean-up on Wednesday 28th July.
Residents joined Royal Borough community wardens, borough streetcare officers, police officers, police community support officers, members of Neighbourhood Watch, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue personnel, staff from Windsor Housing and local councillors to bag up litter and grapple with graffiti.
Volunteers collected more than 20 bags of rubbish and were rewarded for their efforts with a barbecue, with food courtesy of Budgens, Ascot.
Cllr Colin Rayner, lead member for highways and streetcare, said: “We all need to do our bit to keep our local area clean and tidy. Nobody likes to see litter lying around on the streets – a clean area is a safe area.
“We had an excellent turnout – with more than 20 residents helping on the day. It was a great way to start the summer holidays! Thanks to everyone who came out in the sunshine and took part.
“Together with Thames Valley Police, the council works tirelessly in the battle against criminal damage and anti-social behaviour and will continue to deal robustly with the perpetrators – and the community wardens will continue to fine people who are caught dropping litter.”
Ben Page, community warden who organised the event with the borough's community safety team, said afterwards: "It was good to see residents helping out with this clean-up. There is a great community here in Bouldish farm and events like this bring them together for the common good."
Brian Martin, Community Safety Manager for the borough said: “Community clean ups will continue and I am delighted that the various stakeholders in the area, which includes the residents themselves, are coming together to further improve the environment of a well established community."
