Local Businessman Receives the Chain of Office PDF Print

Retiring Rotary Club of Ascot President Colin Corio (left) greets incoming President Beverley WilliamsA Sunninghill businessman, Beverley Williams, who dedicates much of his spare time to volunteering and fundraising in the local community has taken on the role of President of the Rotary Club of Ascot  He received the chain of office at a handover ceremony (30th June) held at Mill Ride Golf Club, which is the regular meeting place of the Club.


Before handing over the presidential chain, retiring President Colin Corio spoke of the achievements of the Club over the last year with over £25,000 raised for local, national and international causes, and membership increasing to 44, including the first 2 female members, its highest level this century!  For these and related achievements in the year, the Club was awarded a Presidential Citation from the president of Rotary International in the USA.
Incoming President Beverley, who has been a Rotarian for over 30 years, was elected to the office for the third time in a ballot of members earlier this year.  After receiving the chain of office, he said “I am delighted and honoured to take on the role of President of this wonderful Club, and am looking forward to an exciting and interesting year.  I plan to try out a few new things as well as continuing the mix of fellowship and service activities for which the Club is so well known locally.”
The first major fund-raising project of the new Rotary year is the Charity Golf Day, to be held at Chobham Golf Course on Thursday 9th September.  Further information about this event, including entry and sponsorship forms, can be found on the Club website www.rotaryascot.org/golf
