Ascot Nursery Opens New Play Garden
The Ascot Nursery opened its lovely new play garden, in glorious sunshine, on June 28th. The garden, which features a slide , a play house, trampolines, a vegetable patch and a host of further activities, all set on a safe all -weather, spongy surface, covered with a sun canopy and accessed through a conservatory, has been made possible thanks to the central government free flow play initiative. Early
Years Funding - Quality and Access money has been made available, via local authorities, to private nurseries, with the aim of developing outside play for young children. Mrs Pat Evitt , who has run Ascot Nursery for 30 years, said: "This will make such a big difference. Although our children have always played outside, this set -up means that they can go in and out without all the fuss of wellingtons and indoor shoes. " Alastair Warwick, General Manager and Operations Director at Ascot Racecourse (who are landlords to the nursery), said: "I think this new garden is fantastic. I wish my children had had all this space to play in such a safe environment. This is taking play to the next level ! " Mrs Evitt added that she would like to thank the Racecourse, whose commitment as landlords, made it possible for the Borough to allocate the funding in this way: "The Racecourse are always so supportive," she said, "We have a wonderful relationionship with them." While the children enjoyed the excellent new facilities, the adults celebrated the occasion with fruit punch and strawberry canapes.
