NV School Perform in 'Talent Show' for Haiti
The photo (left), shows just a small number of the 75 pupils from the Natalie Vinson School of Dance and Drama who took part in “The Talent Show” in order to raise over £375 for the DEC Haiti Appeal.
In addition to raising money for charity, The Talent Show marked the 18th Birthday of the school which opened its doors in February 1992 and now has over 500 pupils. The boys and girls participated in group numbers such as “Fame” and “The Nutcracker”, and also had the chance to choreograph and perform their own work.
Congratulations to the following prize winners Shannon Wake (Senior Performance), Susannah O’Shea and Claire Devanney (Senior Choreography), Jessica Hammans (Junior Choreography) and Katya Ferrier (Junior Performance). Special mention to Sam and Dom Barker who performed JLS and Daniel Merriweather, together with their backing dancers: Francesca O’Connor, Zoe Fuller, Rebecca Findlay, Kate Poulter and Hannah Wilson. Congratulations also to a couple of other pupils who have recently had good news: Emily Lang has just gained a place at the prestigious drama school RADA and Rupert Roberts has successfully auditioned for the Arts Educational School. Both will join their new full-time schools in September 2010.
After a busy term pupils and teachers are now enjoying a well earned break but classes resume on 17th April with RAD, LAMDA and ISTD examinations taking place in May and June. The school offers a wide range of classes including Ballet, Tap, Drama, Street Jazz and Musical Theatre. Classes operate in the Ascot area, with a large majority held at the Marist School in Sunninghill. A new two-year Dance GCSE course will begin in September 2010 and is suitable for students who are currently in Year 8 or 9 (limited availability). Some spaces are still available for classes in April, but please contact Natalie to register. For more information visit www.nvschoolofdance.co.uk.
