Ascot Horticultural Society Wins Annual Quiz
Ascot Horticultural Society last won the Alistair Fosdick trophy in 1993. Eddie Moore, seen here with team mates Pat Meehan, Sue Potts and captain Peter Cleare, raised the cup after a frustrating 17 years. They had beaten Sunningdale & District Gardening Association in the annual quiz by 27 points to 25. The scores have always been close but a tie-break has yet to be needed. "I wont be able to sleep tonight" teased Eddie, who has been dying to get his hands on the cup for years.
Ascot hosted this annual event and provided a splendid buffet supper. Quizmaster, Jim Hathaway, had created a quiz in which the audience could join in too. Sunningdale's Peggy Dann had the highest audience score earning her a surprise plant to take home.
Thanks to all the supporters who turned up to encourage both sides.
