Local residents still have two weeks to help trading standards beat the conmen by dropping their scam mailings into designated Scamnesty bins across the borough (look out for the logo, right). The bins are easy to spot with their distinctive red ‘drop in and drop them in it’ logo. Scamnesty bins can be found at many libraries and Borough venues, including:
• Charters Leisure Centre, Sunningdale
• Ascot Day Centre, Chandler Centre, Bagshot Road, Sunninghill.

Residents are urged to continue supporting Scams Awareness Month (Monday 1 February to Friday 26 February) by dropping off their bogus prize draw notifications, fake lottery wins and other scam mailings into designated Scamnesty bins at the Town Hall in Maidenhead, York House in Windsor, local libraries and other public areas
Cllr Phill Bicknell, lead member for public protection, said: “There’s been a great deal of interest so far in Scamnesty. It makes people aware that if they receive a letter or email suggesting that they have won the lottery or some other prize it will be a scam, as will claims by clairvoyants and mystics to be able to change your life.
“If you get any suspicious junk mail then please let us have it by using one of the Scamnesty bins. New scams are tried all the time so it will help us crack down on the rogues.
“If you have a scam then please ‘drop in and drop them in it’.”
Scams can be reported online to the ‘virtual bin’ on the Consumer Direct website, www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/scamnesty
Residents reminded there’s still time to ‘drop in and
