Papplewick, the preparatory school for boys in Ascot, is delighted to be introducing a Year 2 class, for boys aged six, from September 2010.
This enables families to take advantage of all that Papplewick has to offer at a slightly earlier age than before, while still benefiting from a small class size. Boys, perhaps more so than girls, may start to out-grow their pre-prep schools during the course of Year 2, and are typically keen to participate in a diet of daily sport, including regular matches against other schools. Joining Papplewick at this level, they will also enjoy some of the other more unusual school activities, such as being ‘out and about’ on their waveboards at breaktimes, or becoming members of the school’s unique snake and reptile club.
The Year 2 class will have its own specialist teacher and the classroom will be in the ‘Junior Corridor’ alongside the other boys in Years 3 and 4. Whilst boys will essentially follow the same timetable as all pupils in the Lower School, they will have a slightly shorter day on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, when their pick-up time will be at 4.30pm, in recognition of their age. In addition, there will be no ‘Saturday school’ for the Year 2 boys - although there may be the occasional sports fixture on certain Saturdays. Given this specially tailored programme, the fees for Year 2 boys will be lower than those for boys in Years 3 and 4.
If you would like to find out more about the possibility of your son joining Papplewick in September 2010 in Year 2, please contact the Registrar, Sarah Tysoe, on 01344-621488 or by email at
