From everything we read and hear about retirement (not having quite reached the milestone ourselves) there is always the sense of some kind of huge life change destined to take place. The subject of pensions invariably comes up, and to be honest more often than not in a negative way.

“You need to plan for it and you can’t rely on the state” are common statements associated with retirement planning. Agreed, but shouldn’t the planning be there long before you hang up your boots?
