New, Ascot Heath Juniors Pool - Official Opening
The refurbished Ascot Heath Junior School pool was officially opened on 5th June, 2009 by Mrs Doris O’Leary (pictured abouve receiving a bouquet of flowers) in memory of her husband, Mr Bill O’Leary, who was headteacher from 1972 – 1992.
Over 40 years ago, a swimming pool was built at the School, mainly by the hard work of parents of children attending at the time. They committed both time and money to this project.
Over the years, the pool has been patched up to make it fit for use. It was decided that major refurbishment was needed in order to bring the pool up to the standard expected for today.
Last July, the School community launched an appeal to raise the considerable sum of money needed to complete the renovation.
The School has been overwhelmed by the generosity of businesses, local people and parents. Over £25,000 has been raised to cover the cost of the major work.
