The Strategies for Success Day held at Charters School on Tuesday 17th January2023 was a huge success. The motivational workshops which are specifically designed for those taking GCSEs, highlighted techniques and skills that can be used during this potentially stressful time.

Year 11 student Anders said "I found the Strategies for Success day very interesting and helpful as it gave us a perspective of what exam time looks like, approaches to revision and how to manage the stress and anxiety faced. The session with the external teacher was fascinating as Laura kept us all engaged with some activities and made the experience very enjoyable. It was also really useful to learn about the techniques and revision skills for the exam that will help us to prepare well.

The Teams call was extremely helpful as well as it put into reality that there isn't that long left before the exams, so it is important to start revision sooner rather than later. It highlighted the key characteristics needed to be successful and I am sure that we will all be grateful when we open that envelope in August and see the results achieved. Overall, the Strategies for Success day was very useful for everyone and should definitely continue next year as I believe it is important and the best guidance that is offered."

The day was made possible thanks to the sponsorship of The Sunninghill Trust.  One of the charity's Trustees, Will Dalton said "I am delighted that The Sunninghill Trust has covered the full cost of the Strategies for Success Day. The charity appreciates the value that it will bring and how it will benefit the Year 11 pupils. I am so pleased to be able to continue our association with Charters School and all the great things that you do."

The school knows that the day has a profound impact on the students as they approach their GCSE examinations and after last year’s workshop, the cohort achieved 1/3 of a grade higher on average than what was predicted.
