Isobel Butler, aged 17 from Ranelagh School, is the first ever winner of the Ascot Racecourse fashion design competition and has seen her digital design brought to life by internationally renowned fashion designer Zeynep Kartal and British milliner Beverley Edmondson.

The competition was part of the Ascot Racecourse Supports schools engagement programme and was supported by Samsung, Ascot’s technical supplier.

Students from Charters School in Sunningdale as well as Brakenhale School and Ranelagh School in Bracknell were given a Samsung Flipchart and tasked with creating an outfit, complete with hat, that could be worn in the Queen Anne Enclosure at Royal Ascot 2021.

The winning design was selected and created by Royal Ascot designer, Zeynep Kartal and the hat made by Farnham-based milliner, Beverley Edmondson.

Isobel will wear her design to the final day of this year’s Royal Meeting on Saturday, 19th June and she will be co-presenting trophies for the penultimate race of the week, the Golden Gates Stakes at 5.35pm, accompanied by Ascot Racecourse Supports Racing Ambassador, Ryan Moore.

Drew Rogers, Senior Product Manager at Samsung UK, said: “It’s fantastic to see the unique and stylish designs from the students brought to life through our Samsung Flip technology.

“At Samsung, we always aim to support local organisations and events, and encourage people to express their creativity whilst enjoying the benefits of digital art.”

Samsung kindly made a permanent donation of the innovative Flipcharts to the three local secondary schools invited to participate.

This initiative forms part of Ascot Racecourse Supports schools engagement programme. “Ascot Racecourse Supports” was launched in 2017 and brings together all Ascot Racecourse’s community and charity work into one programme for the benefit of the local community and beyond. Its goals are to support small, local/regional charities and community groups with a focus on children and mental health issues in addition to equine charities.

Royal Ascot will be held from Tuesday 15th – Saturday 19th June 2021.
