Papplewick boys currently living across thirteen different time zones, have been set various challenges since lockdown was announced back in March, in addition to being remotely taught a full timetable of live lessons for all year groups. An extreme reading challenge proved fun and boys posted photos of themselves reading whilst somersaulting on trampolines, riding pogo stick, high up in trees etc, The latest challenge however has given them their greatest challenge yet since lockdown.  The Race Around the World asked year groups to race each other 'around the earth' with the first team back at Papplewick winning the race not only to keep their fitness levels up but as an interactive challenge. How it works is that with a total of 40,075.00km to complete the race, each year group is given a 'value' of km to walk, run, cycle in their own areas - for instance in year 2 1KM would equal 120kms, whilst in year 81 kms would equal 35 kms. The race started off  'from Papplewick' on Monday 11th May and although it took some time for a few year groups to get going (year 8 boys being still in Bracknell whilst Year 5 had passed the border into Germany!) all teams have now gathered momentum with some huge bike rides and long runs being reported and parents supporting alongside (some on rollerblades !) At the end of last week teams were cruising across Asia, with Years Four and Five and the Staff team in Mongolia, while the others were gathered in central Russia, heading into the weekend. The race ends at the end of this week when the boys, parents and staff can soothe their aching muscles with half term ahead !

(Daily transport services running from Chiswick, Brook Green, Gloucester Rd, and Maidenhead).
