Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead response to COVID19

Please find below an update on the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead’s response to COVID19.

We have also created this webpage where we will share regular updates with residents and businesses:

 The Town Hall, Maidenhead

From tomorrow, Wednesday 18 March, we will be closing our offices to the public unless there is a planned appointment booked.

This is to protect you and our staff, as well as ensuring our ability to continue to provide vital services.

If you have a planned appointment with us please attend as normal unless you hear from us otherwise.

Don’t forget you can report, pay or apply for many services online. If you need to contact us by phone call our customer services team on 01628 683800. If you do call please bear with us as the lines may be busy.

Museums, libraries, children’s centres and youth centres

Royal Borough children’s centre and youth centres are now closed until further notice.

All our libraries and museums will also close from 18 March 2020 until further notice.

Books can still be returned using the drop boxes outside all buildings and you can also renew books online here.

We will also waive any fines accrued during this time.

You can still contact the libraries team by telephone on 01628 796969.

Council meetings cancelled

Following the extraordinary council meeting held earlier today all scheduled public council meetings are now cancelled until further notice.

The cancellations include the Maidenhead development management panel due to take place this evening (18 March 2020) and Windsor Town Forum tomorrow (19 March 2020).

To ensure that planning and licencing decisions can continue to be made in these unprecedented times, powers have been delegated to the Managing Director who will work with the chief technical officers in these areas to make these decisions.

If needed any public meetings of the council can be called to ensure business can continue to be conducted in a timely manner.

This decision will be reviewed should the government advice change or no later than the end of June, whichever comes sooner.

 Parking restrictions

As part of our COVID19 response all Windsor zone resident permit holders are now able to park at all times in Windsor Leisure Centre & Alexandra Gardens car parks whilst displaying a valid resident permit until further notice.

Community action advice

Community action is a really good thing.  If you can, please help others in your community - check on any vulnerable family, friends and neighbours to see if they need anything from the shops, a prescription collected or help with other small jobs. Sometimes just a small favour can make a big difference.

You can also join your local neighbourhood watch scheme:  https://www.ourwatch.org.uk.

There are local groups being set up across the borough by individuals, generally being coordinated through Facebook.  Your local councillors will have information about what is going on in their wards.
