New social thanking platform recognising unsung heroes in the public sector launches in Ascot

Can you thank the unsung heroes in your community?

TAP (Thank and Praise), a unique social thanking platform on WhatsApp, enables parents and patients to thank and reward those working in healthcare/NHS and education.

TAP was borne out of sheer frustration. Founders, Phillip and Sandie Curtis, have received outstanding service from the NHS and education authorities for their special needs son, but have always found it difficult to relay their appreciation to the right individuals.

“Our culture often seems driven to look for the worst, to highlight what is wrong, instead of giving thanks and praise for the good that can be found in so many, especially in unsung heroes in education and healthcare”, said Sandie Curtis, Founder and CEO of TAP.

They are not the only people who think this.  Earlier this year, TAP conducted research with over 200 people to understand the social attitude to thanking and some strong trends emerged:

“I think the concept is an excellent idea. Remuneration for people in these professions is often not comparative to the private sector. So, thanking them in a public domain is a great way to say how much their contribution is valued”, was a view shared by many respondents.

Those who receive thanks are also awarded TAP points which can be redeemed with a range of retail partners.

St Michaels school uses the TAP platform. Headteacher,  Lorna Anderton sees the benefits of TAP:

''The staff have embraced the platform as a means of showing their appreciation for the support of colleagues in school. As a headteacher, I am thrilled with the opportunities TAP provides to support my teachers’ well-being. A ‘thank you’ every so often makes a huge difference to someone’s day and how they feel. Happy, positive teachers create an environment where our children can flourish. Everyone’s a winner!”

The founders of TAP have an underlying mission to make the world a better place by improving the well-being and mental health of all those working in education and healthcare, by encouraging people to show appreciation to them.  TAP wants to be ‘The Currency of Thanks’.

TAP is rolling out in schools, hospitals and GP’s surgeries in Berkshire and Surrey, prior to a nationwide launch in 2020.  Watch out!
