Sebastian’s Action Trust has received an incredible donation of £126,734 from Wolseley Infrastructure.

Wolseley Infrastructure, one of Wolseley UK’s brands, raised the money during its annual gala ball, which took place recently at the Coombe Abbey Hotel, Warwickshire.

Jane Gates OBE, Sebastian’s Action Trust’s CEO, husband Michael, and Mark Courage, chairman of trustees, (pictured above) were among hundreds of guests who attended the glittering evening which had a ‘Night at the Circus’ theme.

Wolseley Infrastructure’s donation will be used to build one new family respite lodge in the beautiful grounds of the charity’s outreach facility, The Woodlands, in Upper Broadmoor Road, Crowthorne.

Sebastian’s Action Trust is planning to introduce two new cedar-clad respite lodges at The Woodlands early next year. Both self-contained lodges will accommodate up to eight people and as well as bedrooms, will include specially adapted bathroom facilities suitable for children and young people with physical disabilities.

Families staying in one of the new lodges will have use of The Woodlands’ onsite facilities during their stay, which includes comfortable and safe leisure spaces within Sebastian’s Tree House, Ruby’s Den, Beech Lodge and Cedar Lodge.

The lodges will complement the two existing apartments at the charity’s outreach facility in Hampshire – The Bluebells. Sebastian’s Action Trust supports 528 families of children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions who live in Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, but welcomes families from all over the UK to stay at The Bluebells for respite breaks.

Jane Gates OBE, Sebastian’s Action Trust’s CEO, said: “Everyone at Sebastian’s Action Trust is completely overwhelmed by this absolutely incredible amount of money from Wolseley Infrastructure, which has chosen our charity as the main beneficiary of its annual gala ball for the second consecutive year.

“We had always hoped to be able to offer our families, who are facing very uncertain futures with their seriously-ill child, accommodation at The Woodlands and thanks to this donation it is something we will be able to do. The last wish of Sebastian, my son, and our charity’s founder, was to create a special place were families facing enormous challenges could come together for rest, relaxation and memory making. Without any Government funding, we have achieved this at The Bluebells and now, thanks to Wolseley Infrastructure, we can build the first of our two lodges planned for The Woodlands.”

The new lodge that is being paid for by Wolseley Infrastructure will be called ‘Wolseley Lodge’.
